How far is Enchanted Woods Cabin from the places you'll actually go?
Distances are straight-line from this home's own coordinates, so the road distance is longer — mountain roads wind. We've left drive times out rather than estimate them; call us and we'll tell you what the drive is really like in the season you're coming.
House rules and policies
The Tahoe basin is under high fire risk year-round, which is why smoking is refused everywhere on our properties, outdoor areas included. Early check-in and late check-out depend on the cleaning schedule that day — ask us 48 hours ahead and we'll do what we can.
Getting to Enchanted Woods Cabin
Reno-Tahoe International is the closest commercial airport to every home we manage. Sacramento and the Bay Area are the common drives, all of them over a mountain pass.
CA-89 and CA-28 around the lake get chain controls in winter storms, and Donner Summit on I-80 closes on short notice. Check conditions before you leave — Caltrans for California and nvroads.com for Nevada — and plan to arrive before dark on check-in day in ski season.
Booking direct with MG Vacation Rentals
Murat Gocmen and the MG Vacation Rentals team personally manage the homes on this site across Lake Tahoe and Truckee. Booking here means dealing with that local team directly rather than a platform queue — the same people who clean, maintain and inspect this home are the ones who answer the phone during your stay.
It also means no platform service fee on the guest side, which is typically 12–15% of the booking on the big sites. You pay the nightly rate, cleaning, occupancy tax, and card processing at cost.

Great rental cabin. Great location. The west shore is amazing.
Great
Cute wooden cabin located close to main attractions. It was quite during night since the cabin is located away from the Main Street.
오래되고 작은 오두막이지만 불편한건 없었어요. 조용한 숲속에 위치하고 있어서 머리가 맑아지고 밤에 잠도 잤어요.
Perfect location to access the west shore. Quiet neighborhood and privacy. Would stay here again.
We stayed at the Enchanted Woods cabin in Homewood CA for 5 days (it was just me & my husband). It was definitely bigger just for 2 people but we wanted to experience living in the woods and this place was the one we were looking for. If you don’t mind the rustic look, it is this place. It’s a home away from home. Had everything we needed. Just flush the toilet carefully. The bathroom/ laundry room has no curtain and so you are exposed while using the toilet. Carry on. Also, the windows/door by the kitchen has no curtain so you can have a staring contest with the bears. Just kidding we didn’t encounter bears (so happy about that) The bed is fine except if you have back issues maybe that’s kinda challenging. We almost opted to sleep on the couches. It was peaceful and serene. It is a very quiet place. You can relax. Breathe fresh air. Thank you! We love our stay. ♥️🙂
booked the place a month ago and didnt anticipated the winter storm. The drive there were a bit scary because we got hit with snow as we was driving up. But once we got there, everything was great. Nice, peaceful, cozy place for a small family. The snow was actually a nice little treat for my boys, they enjoyed playing in the snow. Host was also responsive and accommodating with late check out due to the amount of snow on the day of.
We don’t usually leave bad reviews, but parents should know this is not a safe place for toddlers or small children. It didn't feel clean. We opened a table expecting games or blankets and instead found an old toothbrush, crackers, kinetic sand, dirt, and hair -Gross. Later my kid found a rotting lime under the TV shelf and someone else’s pajamas in a kitchen cabinet, which made it hard to feel comfortable in the space. There were also several safety concerns. An upstairs window didn’t lock (kids can fall out!), cabinets exposed wiring, and large furniture was not secured to the walls. The window blinds had looped cords (a choking hazard), and the bear wires installed around the windows created a trapped feeling and weren't easy to disable. Because of this, we didn’t feel comfortable letting our kids move around freely. Also, the downstairs bathroom window had no covering, which impacted privacy. Positives: location is a quick drive to the lake and may be best for teens/adults.
Great location to ski Palisades and also hang out around the lake! Cabin was cozy and perfect for a ski trip
Great place, easy check in check out, very clean. Definitely worth a stay!
